MKB OpenHouse March 7th from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The annual MKB OpenHouse is Thursday, March 7th. The come and go event lasts from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During the OpenHouse, youcan:
Visit your child’s classroom and see their academic work
Visit and purchase your child’s art at the MKB Art Fair in the Cafeteria
Visit the Dino Mite Book Fair in the Library and purchase books & More!

All About March 7 MKB Art Show & Call for Art Show Volunteers
Each year during the Spring Open House, Mockingbird Elementary has an Art Show/Fundraiser that showcases a framed artwork from every student in the school. Read more about the Art Show at www.smore.com/gh0dm and check out the flyer here.
You have the option of beating the lines the night of the show by participating in our pre-sale!
Pre-sale forms are going home with your students this week. Please return pre-sale forms completed and with payment to Mr. McBride during March 4th - March 6th.
In addition to this being a valuable experience for students to get exposure and recognition, this event also acts as the sole fundraiser for the MKB Art Department. Art teacher Mr. McBride need of a few dedicated volunteers who would be willing to help with the Art Show. The MKB Spring BookFair is scheduled for March 5-8, and we need your help to make it a success!
Volunteering at the bookfair is a fun and rewarding way to get involved in helping students become better readers.
Help is needed for:
Cookies for the Book Fair (bring or bake) one dozen, nut free cookies by 7:30 a.m. March 6 and 7:30 a.m. March 7
Lunch with a loved one for K, 2, 4 on Wednesday, March 6
Lunch with a loved one for 1, 3, 5 on Thursday, March 7
Breaking down the BookFair the afternoon of Friday, March 8

I’m sure you are ready for Spring break and have fun vacation plans. Well, I have exciting plans for Spring break that I would like to share with you! My baby boy will be arriving around that time and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
So this Friday will be my last day for the school year, before I start my maternity leave. There will be a sub testing coordinator/counselor while I am out on leave. Please contact the office if you need assistance with anything and they will guide you in the right direction! I am hoping to be able to stop by for 5th grade graduation! Have a wonderful rest of the school year!

Mockingbird Elementary has a goal to raise $13,000 for Classroom Libraries, Field Day, Enrichment Activities and Outdoor Benches. By partnering with Boosterthon, our students will participate in a two-week, fitness-based fundraiser where they’ll learn essential character traits through this year’s theme: MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB. Help us reach our goal this year by connecting with sponsors!

Board approval of the 2019-2020 attendance zones also included the “grandfathering” of current (2018-19) fourth and seventh graders to finish their fifth grade and eighth grade years, respectively, at their current school for the 2019-2020 school year, if they choose. Siblings of these students also would be allowed to remain at the current campus for one year only. Transfer forms must be completed for all “grandfathered” students and siblings. CISD will accept these transfer requests from March 4 to March 29, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. Details on the process can be found at www.coppellisd.com/transfer.Details on the Dual Language Immersion and Pick Pinkerton Choice Lottery process also are available on that site. CISD will not provide transportation for students who transfer campuses, including those who transfer as “grandfathered” students. Also, there will not be a “pay-to-ride” option for “grandfathered” or transfer students.
CISD Distinguished Alumni Nominations Due March 5
Coppell ISD is excited to announce a new recognition for district graduates, the Distinguished Alumni Award. Please nominate your favorite alumnus here. The nomination process will end Tuesday, March 5, and recipients will be notified early March 2019. Three outstanding graduates will be recognized at the Coppell Education Foundation Recognition Banquet in April.
CHS Boys Soccer Hosts Youth Night with Free Admission March 5

CISD Child Nutrition Celebrates National School Breakfast Week
The CISD Child Nutrition Department is celebrating National School Breakfast Week March 4th-8th. This year’s theme is “Start Your Engines with School Breakfast” and cafeterias will be featuring new breakfast items and giving away prizes throughout the week.
CISD Ed Foundation Seeks Candidates for Board of Directors
The Coppell ISD Education Foundation (CEF) is seeking candidates to fill open seats on its Board of Directors for the 2019-2022 term.
The Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers representing the community and businesses served by Coppell ISD.
The mission of the Coppell ISD Education Foundation is to generate and distribute resources to the Coppell Independent School District for educational, motivational and innovative programs needed to meet the district’s mission of excellence in education.
A few of CEF’s programs include the Super Star Program, the Verizon Robotics Camp, the Recognition Banquet, the Run to Fund and the Interactive Institute (Steam Camp).
Board members also serve as ambassadors for the Foundation and District in raising community awareness and participation in the mission of excellence in education in Coppell ISD.
