Message from PTO President Tianay Carroll
As we close our final week before winter break, I would like to thank you all for your support the last few months. Each of you play such an important role in preparing our children for the future. Your role at home or at school guides each child to prepare them to go out and impact the world. Our Mavericks are amazing learners!!
Thank you for providing funds to help support additional needs, food when we want to treat our teachers or students, and most of all thank you for your time. The gift of time from our parents and our teachers is one of the biggest gifts of all to build up our kids and prepare them for life. Time reading a book, on a field trip, throwing a party, sitting in an audience, preparing lessons, learning new teaching techniques, listening to stories, and providing encouraging word are just a few of the ways the Mockingbird family is truly better together.
I wish each of you and your families the best holiday season and hope you get to spend a few extra special moments together.
The PTO can always use a few extra hands, which is a great way to get to know people and support your school. If you ever have questions, please reach out.

Submit Your Pictures for Yearbook with ReplayIt App
Winter Break is a great time to share your Mockingbird photos with the Yearbook Committee! If you have some great pictures from a field trip or anything that went on at Mockingbird this school year, please feel free to share via the Replay App, available for download via Itunes or Google Play stores. Please take a few moments to upload photos that you have taken directly to the Mockingbird yearbook site on the App. Pictures taken outside of Mockingbird that were not field trip related will not be approved. Please do not upload blurry pictures as those will not be considered at all for the yearbook.
Our goal on the yearbook committee is to make sure that every child is in the yearbook at least three times, if not more. We would love to see your pictures, since we do not go on the field trips or attend class parties for every grade level.
The CISD Board of Trustees held itsthird Board Workshop on boundary realignment Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Trustees received an update on the elementary school realignment and an updated proposed Middle School Plan, B3, based on feedback from the Nov. 12 Board Workshop. CISD also shared its recommendation to the Board, which is Elementary Plan A2 and Middle School Plan B3. CISD officials discussed grandfathering and shared their proposed plans to allow current fourth and seventh graders to finish their fifth grade and eighth grade years, if they so choose, at their current school for the 2019-2020 school year. Siblings of these students also would be allowed to remain at the current campus for one year. Parents and guardians of current fourth and seventh graders, who wish to remain at their current campus for the 2019-2020 school year, will need to fill out a transfer application for these students and siblings. CISD will not provide bus transportation for these students. CISD will open its transfer application enrollment on March 4, 2019. Details about district’s transfer process for all students will be released in January 2019. Broadcast video of the Dec. 10 Board Workshop, including the scenarios and presentation shared, is available atwww.coppellisd.com/realignment. The CISD Public Forum on Boundary Realignment will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in the CHS9 Auditorium starting at 6:30 p.m. The district also will host a Boundary Realignment Facebook Live on January 16, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. The Board will consider and adopt the final Boundary Realignment Model at its February 25, 2019, meeting.
CISD Strategic Design Core Values Audit
Phase 2 of CISD’s Strategic Design effort will hone in on specific opportunities to fully realize the Core Values developed in Phase 1 of the process. As CISD moves forward, the district is again inviting all of its stakeholders (students, parents, employees and community members) to provide input about our campuses via this Audit, which is available at www.coppellisd.com/corevaluesaudit. This Audit will be open to the public through at least Dec. 31, 2018. CISD will use this important insight to help drive the next steps in Phase 2 of its Strategic Design effort. Details and phases of our Strategic Design process can be found at www.coppellisd.com/strategicdesign.

Lost and Found Overflowing
The lost and found closet is overflowing! Please look to see if your child has all of their winter gear. If not, please ask them to stop by the lost and found. There’s a good chance that coat, hat, scarf or glove is hiding there!
