Mockingbird Mavs’ Dads Annual Meeting Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
It is time for the Mavs’ Dads annual kick-off meeting. All Mavs’ Dads are encouraged to attend. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Bring your ideas. Meet the Mockingbird Principal, Mrs. Flynn. All Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles and male role models are welcome. If you have a child at Mockingbird, then you are part of Mavs’ Dads.
The best part is all you have to do is show up.
This is our only official planning meeting of the year. (We like to keep it simple). Mavs Dads formed several years ago to promote and encourage school participation from male role models. We continue that tradition and have three goals: 1. Have Fun 2. Connect with Mockingbird 3. Encourage our Children
Just a few ideas planned for 2018-2019: 1. Fall Movie Night under the Stars 2. Spring Movie Night and Camp Out 3. Mavs’ Dads Day (four throughout the year) 4. Mavs’ Dads Superhero Cape Day 5. Main Event Mavs’ Dads Day
Do you have ideas? Do you want to help? Do you just want to attend events? Any and all level of participation is encouraged. For more information please contact Keith Hayden at email@example.com.

International Day of Peace is Friday, Sept. 21st. At Mockingbird our Pinwheels for Peace Day will be Friday, Sept. 21st, at 8 a.m.
MKB students have been creating Pinwheels in Art class. Students have also been learning about peace and respect during guidance lessons. Take a moment and share with your child what peace means to you. Listen to what peace means for them. Help them make connections to finding peace with themselves and contributing to the peace in their family, community, and world.
Please join us at 8 a.m. on the front lawn to create a visual public statement about peace! To create your own pinwheel or neighborhood display, feel free to use the template found at www.pinwheelsforpeace.com. You can also have your child create one for you at home. It is not necessary to have a pinwheel to participate. We look forward to seeing you! Everyone is welcome!
Help Needed for Mockingbird Homecoming Parade Float Sept. 26
It's a tradition for Mockingbird to participate in the Coppell High School Homecoming Parade. This year, the parade will be on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and it starts at 6:30 p.m. Typically "floats" line up at Cottonwood Creek Elementary starting at 5:30 p.m. We need a few parents who can locate a trailer, truck and be willing to decorate it for the parade. If you have any of these items and are willing to help organize, please email PTO President Melissa Watson at firstname.lastname@example.org or Vice President Vai Patel email@example.com.
CISD Seeks Input in Naming 11th Elementary
Coppell ISD is seeking input from its community in naming the district’s 11th elementary school. The school is set to open for the 2019-20 school year and is located on the corner of Ranchview and Santa Fe Trail in Irving, Texas (Valley Ranch). Please visit goo.gl/cevG1m and fill out the questionnaire by Friday, Sept. 14. Historically, CISD secondary schools (6th – 12th grades) are named after geographic areas or specific programs (such as New Tech High @ Coppell). Four of the district’s 10 current elementary schools are named after people (Pinkerton, Wilson, Austin and Lee.) CISD Board Policy CW Local states, “In the naming or renaming of a District facility after a District employee or elected official, there shall be a one-year waiting period from the time of resignation or retirement before the Board may consider such a request. Visithttps://pol.tasb.org/Policy/Download/373?filename=CW(LOCAL).pdf for the complete policy. Results from the questionnaire will be shared with the CISD Board of Trustees during its regular Board Meeting on Monday, Sept. 24.
